I remembered I had my original college transcript in a black leather attache that used to be in a box in the garage. When I finally found it today I flipped thru papers in another folder and found this envelope with a paper I bought in '68 to resubmit for a grade (cheatin' ain't eatin'). Along with the paper was a bunch of essays from grade schoolers, all about what they wanted to do when they grew up. Arnold wrote that he liked Honey West on TV and wants to work as a P.I. with pretty girl detectives. Simone wrote that she wanted to be either a Sunday school teacher or a tree-trimmer. There were maybe 18 - 20 of these and it gave me the idea to include a section in Self Deprecation which amounted to pretending I notified each of these kids who are now adults and inquired if their careers matched their aspirations. So here's the first one:

Isaiah lived in Taos, NM where he practiced medicine in a health exchange with three other doctors. Hs likeness on Skype was strangely similar to Rodney King (before the beating) and was no more fidgety that you'd expect for a busy doc willing to give you a few minutes of his time. He said he looked like the actor who plays Chris Rock on Everyone Hates Chris when he wrote the essay I held up to my webcam and yes, he remembered wanting to own a bike shop when he was a kid because he wanted a Schwinn real bad back then. When I asked him who the female was who entered the room, he turned around then nervously ended the session. I kept thinking about that and went back to his Facebook page to see if it might give me a clue. There it was, Ike (his nickname) was coupled with Cynthia Womack, actress Connie Britton's twin sister. So how the hell does a kid in an Illinois grade school who wants to be shop owner end up being a doctor and pairing with an actress's sister? Am I on to something here? Wonder what the next fake interview will reveal.
