Lest we create the impression that once the roommate moment passed that there was no further expect the unexpected moments in our story, pay attention. This idea, the one being spelled out here, centered on the basic premise "get outta Dodge". When Jill first suggested it, Will, the unflappable Will, called an acquaintance in Arizona about spending a week there. It went over like a fart in church. So Will found a tennis camp in Palm Springs CA and book some time with the pro there. The long kiss goodbye in the parking lot of the apartment said clearly that the departure was going to be tinged with emotion. Will was not more than a few hours on the freeway when the Moody Blues "Isn't Life Strange" came through the speakers and teared filled eyes caused Will to pull off to the shoulder of the road. But determination prevailed and within hours, Will found an off-site Best Western in Indio that costs the same for a week as 2 nights in the Mission Hills CC where the tennis club was located. Will did tennis during the day and long phone calls to Jill at night. He semi-befriended a couple from New Zealand who he spent a rainy with at a pub drinking beer and shots of Patron. Then he accepted a post-lesson singles set with a gal from SoCal who was visibly captivated by Will's recap of how he & Jill managed to get together. The bedtimes back at the motel were salvaged by Jill's voice on the phone while Will downed a few beers and dreamed himself to sleep. The last day came sooner than planned as neither of them could stand it any longer and Will headed back home, this time for eternity.
