Will spent alot of time as a kid in the library. It was a grand building, one of the Carnegie libraries built in the early 1900s. Inside, Will was scampish, always making noises at the water fountain so the head librarian would scowl or even bark out commands to knock it off. But today, Will's not in the kiddie section but grabs a book from an adult shelf (adult as in the 50s before adult meant beat-off material). Here's what he read:

Delilah was gathering up the empty wrapper in the Baracini chocolate box as she bit down on a jelly, not her favorite. She just received notice that her Dad's restored Kaiser-Fraser had sold for a record $116,000. It made her neither happy nor sad because her mind was on the phone and when it would ring and if Dingo did or did not tell his wife that he was leaving her. Delilah was confident that Dingo wouldn't let her down and when she got that message, she would immediately tell Daddy that she was in love, he is a man from another place but he's coming to take her to a new home where they can live, love and spawn.

Will scratched his head and went to the big dictionary near the Britanicas and looked up "spawn". Gulp, he gulped. Maybe I should stick to the Sporting Life magazines across the hall. Spawn - like in birthin' babies? Little did Dingo know that some 40 years hence, he would realize how prophetic his knee-jerks really are.
