A little more for Self Deprecation :

Not sure when politics became an interest but I remember lividly (Gwen) being incredulous in history class that more students were for Kennedy than Nixon for whom I raised my hand because my Dad was a Republican. By the time I found myself in a PoliSci class in college I was voicing Che and Mao mainly for the great rallies where bra-less gals passed doobies and I read up a bit to keep up with the conversations. There was a definite liberal=nookie element in my diving into the history of dissent. By the time Bobby Kennedy and King were killed my intelligence was already accepting that peace, love and rock 'n roll was the right belief, equating repression and law 'n order as the enemy. Many a morning found the newspaper thrown across the kitchen in anger after reading the editorial page. So politics in the new millennium is not shockingly any more corrupt to me than several eras in my lifetime. But geez-o -man is there ever so much opinion expressed about it that lacks the fun of Earth Day or Be-Ins of the 60s. The players have familiar messages, the ladies all wear expensive bras and the kicks come only from watching assholes fail even if it doesn't happen often enough. You almost wish a coterie of idealistic realists would emerge from the government and make excellence the new bar, siphoning off the greed and the corruption with a flair for certain missing undergarments. You read it here first - the 20Teens are going to be a happening decade for the alert and those aware of the collective conscience.
